Finally a finish!!

Hello there!
How is your week going? After a long spell of dry, hot, humid weather it finally rained here today! Yesterday it hit 30C outside our back door but now it's feeling a lot cooler & fresher. Whilst watching the tennis during Wimbledon fortnight I was able to get on with my cross stitch WIP & I have tried to keep that momentum going since then. This has been a long time coming but I finally have a stitchy finish to share with you! Here is she is - Ladybird Fairy :-)
Here are a couple of close ups of her with all her beads & metallic threads...
She really is a lot more sparkly than the camera picks up...
I haven't quite decided whether to frame her or make her into a wall hanging so for the moment she is just going to sit & wait. In the meantime I have started putting a few stitches into the next UFO on my list to be finished, The Wave. This is where I had gotten up to before...
I am going to try & take regular photos & post on my progress on this one... well that's the goal at least ;-)
Thank you for visiting me here today, remember there is still time to enter my giveaway here if you haven't done so already! Have a great rest of your week :-)

Christmas in July giveaway!

Hello hello!
How are you? I have been very neglectful of my blog the last wee while :-( There has been a lot going on here & I'm hoping to get into a new routine soon which will include a whole bunch of posts to catch you up on what I've been up to. In the meantime I think you deserve a little giveaway to reward you for sticking with me this far!
Recently a lovely crafty friend gave me a box full of (mainly Christmas themed) craft magazines & goodies which I have been happily exploring. Part of me feels a little guilty mentioning Christmas in July, but each year I find the same thing happens - mid December I realise I haven't nearly enough time for everything I had planned & so I vow to get organised next year & make a start earlier next year (I have a sneaking suspicion I am not the only one this happens to???)... So I am banishing the guilty thoughts & thinking instead that surely this must count as a step in the right direction? (even if all I have done so far is think about things as I read the magazines!) Out of the whole box there were only two magazines I already had, issue 97 of Cross stitch Gold & issue 171 of Cross stitch Crazy....
As you can see from the cover the Cross Stitch Gold is the issue with the Joan Elliot Father Frost design in, there's also a beautiful snowglobe design, some Christmas cards, & the striking circular black ornaments that I managed to make one of last year (posted about here). The Cross stitch Crazy has 88 designs in according to the cover including another Joan Elliot design (the snow angel you can see on the cover) and the oh-so-cute-and-cuddly Sidney the Penguin designed by the amazingly talented Rhona Norrie.
There were also some stamps in the box including two of these big sets...
So I am going to throw this set in with the magazines (there might be a few other little goodies that sneak into the envelope too... ;-) ) All you need to do to be in with a chance of winning these is 1) be a follower of my blog, and 2) leave me a comment on this post including an email I can reach you at if you are the winner! I am happy to post anywhere in the world & will leave this open until midnight GMT July 31st. On August 1st all the names will go into a big bowl & one will be drawn at random by whichever member of the family I can catch to help me! Good luck folks! :-)
